Heat Rolling

Heat Rolling

Bat rolling is a process that can add incredible pop and distance to any softball or baseball bat. Everyone knows that bats get hotter after about 500-800 hits. The trouble is, by the time you have put that many hits on the bat it is well on it’s way to being worn out. By rolling your bat you can enjoy the bat’s maximum potential from the very first swing without putting all the wear and tear on it.

The bat is placed between two rollers and then pressure is applied so that as the bat passes through the rollers the bat’s fibers are stretched out. This causes the fibers to become more flexible which greatly improves the bat’s trampoline effect when the ball hits it resulting in increased batted ball speed and distance. It will make the sweet spot bigger and much more consistent as well.

Heat rolling is a rolling process where heat is applied to your bat to further facilitate break in.  Let me be clear, heat rolling does not add distance.  Anyone claiming heat rolling adds distance has no idea what they are talking about, which should be a clear indicator it is probably best to look for another bat doctor to use.  When done properly, heat rolling can vastly decrease the amount of break in needed.  Our service comes with the heat rolling application and is one of the driving forces behind why these products are on fire right out the gate.  Read any of the reviews and you will see this is a common theme.

Heat rolling is a time consuming process and is more an art vs. a science.  Most bats require heat to be applied at different intervals in the rolling process and requires a much longer run through the roller.  If you think about it, applying heat to anything makes it more pliable.  Same with softball / baseball bats.  The heat in essence loosens up the resin in the fibers allowing the wall to flex a little more.  With this additional flex, the bat must be heated and cooled (yes cooled) in different stages to ensure the fibers are breaking down vs. just flexing.  This process is repeated multiple times until the desired effect is achieved.  The end result is a more, evenly broken in bat vs. traditional rolling that will start producing sooner than later.  We have rolled 1,000s of bats and have crafted our process to yield a result we believe you will be more than satisfied with.
